Summer Sqwalk and Squarry Do - 24th June 2014
Thank you to everyone who made this 85th 'Office Walk' a special day for me. Combined with my 60th birthday bash it was a fantastic day..
No notes were taken as I had a day off, but you will find below a brief summary of events, an album of photos and a video secretly taken throughout the day which say it all.
I must give special thanks also to my wonderful wife Barb and daughter Zoe who assisted throughout and secretly arranged many surprises.
Brief Summary:
A fairly large group of us arrived on the Monday afternoon and later met up at the Bell and Talbot in Salop Street. Chip butties were laid on by the owner and a short mini brewery tour was arranged.
Due to train time restrictions the intended walk on the Tuesday was reduced to 9km (5.5miles). We started around 8.45am after a couple of group photos at the side of the river near the base of the Cliff Railway.
We arrived at the Unicorn Pub at Hampton Loade around 11.30am for a swift refresher before catching the 12.32pm train to The Ship Inn at Highley for lunch.
After lunch in the sunshine we returned by train to Bridgnorth at 2.49pm arriving at 3.14pm and took a breather in the Railway Man's Arms.
The evening began at the Bear Inn in North Gate where the disappointing England/Costa Rica game was showing from 5pm. We moved on to The Old Castle before finishing at the Indian, Eurasia, at 8pm.
Unbeknown to me a video had been taken throughout the day by Zoe capturing many of you singing along to the Vindaloo song. I've added a copy below though if you missed it on youtube.
